Out for birthday party, 3 people shot dead in Panchkula's Morni

Three people were shot dead in the parking of a resort on Morni-Thapli road in Panchkula on Sunday night.

The three had left the resort after celebrating a birthday when unidentified assailants fired multiple shots at their SUV.

According to a friend of theirs, one of the deceased is Vicky, a resident of Delhi, who, along with his nephew and a woman from Hisar, was here for the birthday celebration.

The three were brought to the civil hospital, Sector 6, here, where they were declared dead.

Pinjore SHO Sombir said the victims were identified as Vicky and Vipin, both from Delhi; and Nia from Hisar.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime), Panchkula, Arvind Kamboj, said Vicky, aged around 30, had a criminal background and faced some cases.

They were scanning CCTV footage and gathering other clues, he added.

The motive behind the killing was not clear. Police have not ruled out old enmity. With PTI
