A youth who had gone to meet his female friend at Sector 16 was allegedly kidnapped and left after being assaulted and stabbed by miscreants. Among the suspects is the girl’s brother, who reportedly disapproved of their friendship.

Sources said the victim, identified as Sumit, went to meet the girl on Monday when a group, including her brother, arrived in a car. The assailants beat up Sumit and forced him into the vehicle. They drove through the city, eventually reaching Sector 26 where Sumit was stabbed in the stomach and thrown out of the car.

Passersby informed the police about the incident following which cops reached the spot and rushed the victim to the GMSH, Sector 16.

The police said they were scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in Sectors 16 and 26. “The victim has provided the names of few suspects involved in the incident. Efforts are being made to nab them,” said a police official.
