Over 100 proclaimed offenders arrested in Mohali in 3 months
Two arrested accused booked in murder cases
The police have tracked down and arrested over 100 proclaimed offenders (POs) over a period of three months in the district.
Sharing details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans said a dedicated PO Staff has been constituted with the specific mandate to trace and arrest absconding criminals.
He informed that under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP, Investigation) Saurav Jindal and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP, Special Crime) Naveenpal Singh Lahal, the PO Staff Mohali, led by Inspector Balwinder Singh, along with teams from all police stations of the district, has been actively executing this mission.
During the period, the teams successfully arrested or traced offenders involved in serious criminal cases, including two murder, two attempt-to-murder, seven Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, seven cheating cases, 29 robbery and theft, 19 accident, 11 Excise Act and 24 cases under various other offences.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans reiterated that the police would continue this special drive with renewed vigour to ensure that no absconder escapes the reach of law. He emphasised that strict legal action will be taken against all criminals to uphold law and order across the district.
