Over 100 units of blood collected at camp
The Tribune Employees Union today organised a blood donation camp to mark the 126th death anniversary of the founder of The Tribune Trust, Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia.
More than 100 units of blood were collected at the camp, which was inaugurated by Trustee of The Tribune Trust Justice S S Sodhi (retd). Gurbachan Jagat, another member of The Tribune Trust, also graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sodhi congratulated The Tribune Employees Union for taking up this social cause. “This is a selfless, social cause and I congratulate all employees who regularly donate blood for unknown recipients. We compliment you on this. As Trustees, we have been associated with these social causes propagated by employees for several years,” he said.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests and donors, Anil Kumar Gupta, president, The Tribune Employees Union, said the camp was being held each year since 1989. “The Tribune Employees Union holds the blood donation camp twice a year. This is the best way to pay tributes to the founder, by serving those in need,” he said.
Amongst employees who have donated blood more than 30 times are Anil Kumar Gupta (59), Darshan Singh Sodhi (50), Kamal Kumar (46), Dapinder Singh (38), Vipin Joshi (38), Manish Malhotra (37), Ruchika M Khanna (35) and Rajesh Malik (32).
Jyoti Malhotra, Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune Group of Publications, Amit Sharma, General Manager, The Tribune Trust, Naresh Kaushal, Editor, Dainik Tribune, Arvinder Kaur, Officiating Editor, Punjabi Tribune, and Rani Poddar, Principal, The Tribune School, were also present on the occasion.
The camp was held in association with the Department of Transfusion Medicine, PGIMER, under the supervision of Dr Suchet Sachdev.
