Panchkula, February 26
The Panchkula police recovered over 1,000 bottles of illegal liquor from a Swift car that met with an accident with a stray animal near a banquet hall on the National Highway 7 yesterday.
According to the FIR filed by a Special Police Officer (SPO), he, along with other police officials, was present at the Ramgarh bus stand when a passerby informed him about an accident that took place at a nearby location.
“When they reached the spot, the injured persons were already shifted to the hospital. The police took stock of the liquor bottles scattered on the road,” the FIR stated.
According to the FIR, the police recovered a total of 1,029 liquor bottles from the car being transported illegally without the requisite permits.
The car occupants have been identified as Surendra Chinda, a resident of Jallowal, and Rakesh, a resident of Khadaqa.
The suspects have been booked under Section 61 of the Punjab Excise Act.
