As many as 75,526 persons, who have taken the first shot of Covid vaccine, have not got themselves jabbed with the second dose even after the expiry of the prescribed interval between the two doses, stated the UT Administration.

The issue was discussed by the Administration at a review meeting on the Covid vaccination programme in the city. The Administration said, “Each person is being separately contacted on the given mobile number and a drive has been undertaken to administer the second dose in all overdue cases.” “We have sufficient number of vaccines and there is no waiting time for vaccination,” it added. UT Health Secretary Yashpal Garg requested people to ensure they have taken both the doses.

“Considering that festival season is going on and there are possibilities of the spread of the virus, everybody should get the vaccination done before Diwali,” he added. “Those who have got their first dose from Chandigarh and then went to other places may get their second dose anywhere in India and should not wait for their return to the city,” stated the official press release. — TNS
