Dentists in city observe bandh
Chandigarh, December 13
Members of the local units of the Indian Dental Association (IDA) and the Indian Medical Association (IMA) have taken a categorical stand against the integration of various systems of medicines.
The notification of the amendment to Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) Act regarding postgraduate Ayurveda surgery to study and practise independently has to be seen as another step towards legitimising the integration of various systems, said a member.
The members expressed their solidarity with the IDA and the IMA in their protest against these “retrograde” steps of the government, and observed a “dental bandh” by not attending any elective procedures at their clinics and hospitals on Saturday.
The members, carrying banners and wearing black badges, staged a protest at Sector 17 as well on the IMA premises in Sector 35. — TNS
