Panchkula ASI killed as SUV hits car in Sector 27
An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Panchkula Police was killed in a road accident near Sector 27 here last night. The victim, Anil Kumar (44), was returning from duty.
In a complaint, his son, Aneesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 27, has stated that around 10:10 pm on Sunday, he was out for a walk near Om Hospital in Sector 27. He saw a white Volvo SUV, which was being driven recklessly, colliding with another car near the Sector 26 turn towards Sector 27.
He found that his father, Anil Kumar, was in the car. He was rushed to Ojas Hospital in Sector 26 where he died in the morning. The Volvo driver, identified as Ashok Kumar from Gharaunda, fled the scene leaving his vehicle behind, said the complainant.
Investigations into the circumstances leading to the accident are underway. The police are carrying out raids to nab the Volvo driver.
