Panchkula civic body begins installation of LED lights

The Municipal Corporation, Panchkula, has started installation of LED lights in the city. The corporation which is supposed to replace over 18,000 conventional lights has procured 10,000 for the purpose.
Officials in the corporation said the MC had allocated Rs 9.10 crore for the project, aimed at replacing LED lights across the city. The MC managed to procure 4,000 lights, but the rest were not received in time.
They said, “Initially, we changed the LED lights on A roads. Now, the work to replace LED lights on B and C roads will be carried out with the help of these newly received 10,000 LED lights.”
The project was approved by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies and installation of CCMS panels for smart lighting system in the city under the Divya Nagar Scheme. The municipal corporation has also set up the command and control centre for monitoring the smart lighting system.
