Panchkula, February 18

The police have booked a contractor of the Public Health Department for allegedly damaging the optical fibre cable (OFC) route of the CCTV surveillance system between the old Labour Chowk and the new Labour Chowk during laying of a sewerage line.

The same route can be restored only by laying new cables through an alternative route, which would cost Rs8.54 lakh, read the FIR.

The contractor, identified as Ram Janam Yadav, has been booked under Section 3(2) (e) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

The complainant, Sandeep Arora of Door Sanchar Systems, told the police that the OFC was owned by the MC, Panchkula, and used by the Haryana Police.
