As first responders to crime, all units must remain alert and act swiftly, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik said while issuing key operational guidelines to officers and drivers emergency response vehicles at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3.
The DCP, who met officials of 19 Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs), 11 Police Control Room (PCR) units, 29 Rider Teams and 24 Quick Response Teams (QRTs), took note of the slight improvement in the response time — which has come down from 8 minutes to just 6 minutes.
While praising the ERV staff, she stressed on the need for further improvement. She instructed all team members to maintain the progress and ensure they reach crime scenes as quickly as possible each time.
During the meeting, the DCP directed all officers and personnel to keep a sharp watch on suspicious individuals and vehicles. Orders were also issued to tighten checks at all city checkpoints. She stressed that no negligence would be tolerated during patrolling duties, and any lapses would result in strict action.
Besides, Kaushik advised officers to interact with the general public politely and with restraint, stating that the police’s image is strengthened through respectful conduct.
The DCP also reviewed the Smart e-Beat system. She explained that the movement and activities of Rider Teams and other patrol units are now being monitored via a web application, with day and night patrols recorded digitally. The practice, she added, has made the patrolling system more transparent and effective.
