Panchkula man gets Rs50L extortion call

Panchkula, April 8
A resident of Sector 21 allegedly received an extortion call from an unidentified man, demanding Rs50 lakh from him.
Bal Krishan (50) submitted a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in this regard and a case was registered at the Sector 5 police station.
According to the FIR, the complainant alleged that he received a call from an unidentified person asking him for the money.
He alleged that the man was asking him to pay Rs50 lakh within two days, failing which he threatened to harm his son.
“The caller said he knew that my son goes to the gym,” the FIR read, quoting the complainant.
A case was registered under Sections 384 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at the Sector 5 police station. Krishan has urged the police to provide security to him and his family, claiming a threat to their lives.
