Panchkula, August 6
Panchkula Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal inaugurated a cleanliness drive in Ward Nos. 11 and 12 under the “Swachhta Pakhwada” (cleanliness fortnight) here today.
In Ward No. 11, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal and councillor Omvati Punia started cleaning using brush cutters, while in Ward No. 12, the Mayor and councillor Sonu Birla garlanded the cleaning supervisor and the cleaning inspector. Plantation was also done in both wards.
MC Commissioner Dharamveer Singh also reached the spot to encourage the employees. Deputy Commissioner Deepak Sura and Chief Sanitary Inspector Avinash Singla reviewed the cleanliness drive in both wards.
Kulbhushan Goyal said contribution of all people was important in making Panchkula clean.
A rally for the Tricolour awareness campaign and cleanliness in every house under the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” was also carried out. Kulbhushan Goyal, councillor Sonu Birla, residents and children of Majri School of Ward No. 12 took part in the rally.
A large number of voluntary organisations and officials of institutions also participated in the cleanliness drive.
Goyal said the “Swachhta Pakhwada” was being run to make all wards of Panchkula clean, beautiful and green, adding that Speaker Gian Chand Gupta took the initiative to run “Swachhta Pakhwada” from August 1 to August 15.
