Panchkula MC failed to clean road gullies: Residents

Local residents have accused the Panchkula Municipal Corporation of not cleaning road gullies, drains and sewer lines that leads to waterlogging on roads and in residential sectors across the city whenever it rains.
“Whenever it rains, a flood-likesituation is witnessed in various sectors 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12A, 15, 16, Industrial Area Phase 1 and 2 and Abheypur and Indira Colony. It was only because of the non-cleaning of road gullies on time. The accumulated water enters into houses that send residents into a tizzy. The situation is worse in areas such as Sector 19 and Abheypur where water gets stagnant leading to foul smell that stays for days,” stated the Citizens Welfare Association (CWA).
“In view of the safety and health of residents, we would like to remind the MC to go ahead with cleaning and repairing of road gullies so that stormwater can be discharged quickly. It should have been done much earlier before the arrival of the monsoon. However, the civic body failed miserably to address the issue this time again. Now, people are facing the consequences of lackadaisical attitude of the civic authorities,” the press release stated.
Members of the CWA urged Haryana Speaker and local MLA Gian Chand Gupta, Mayor Kulbhushan Goel, and Deputy Municipal Commissioner Deepak Sura to address the issue.
