Panchkula police discuss strategies to improve efficiency
A high-level meeting to review crime control strategies was held today at the GO Mess at Police Lines. Chaired by Commissioner of Police Rakesh Kumar Arya, it was attended by senior officers including Deputy Commissioners of Police Himadri Kaushik and Mukesh Malhotra, and focused on enhancing policing efficiency.
Key discussions included prioritising cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, with the Commissioner urging swift action on pending cases. Arya emphasised a tougher stance on drug trafficking and illegal arms smuggling, directing officers to implement targeted plans to apprehend suspects.
The meeting also addressed theft and snatching incidents, with ACPs now tasked with overseeing these investigations. For cybercrimes and economic offenses, officers were instructed to act swiftly and ensure timely justice, particularly in cases of online fraud and illegal immigration.
In a push for improved community engagement, Arya stressed that officers should provide prompt assistance to complainants, ensuring that no victim is deprived of justice. He called for heightened vigilance in sensitive areas, especially during night hours, to deter criminal activity.
The Commissioner concluded the meeting with a commitment to support officers in their efforts and announced plans to honor top-performing personnel in a “Hero of the Week” programme.
