Panchkula police hold meeting on senior citizens’ safety

The in-charge of the Chandimandir police station organised a meeting with senior citizens to discuss issues surrounding their safety, health and awareness, with a focus on preventing social and cyber threats. The aim of the meeting was to address concerns from the elderly community and ensure their wellbeing.

Inspector Rampal Singh interacted with the senior citizens and listened to their personal and community-related problems. He informed them about the establishment of a senior citizen committee at the police station level, designed to assist with basic needs such as medical aid and water supply. Additionally, a special assistance scheme was introduced for elderly individuals living alone, guaranteeing swift help in case of a medical emergency. To further enhance support, the station in charge shared his personal contact number and encouraged the elderly to reach out for police assistance if they faced health issues while at home.

The meeting also focused on raising awareness about cybercrime. Senior citizens were advised against sharing banking details or personal information via calls, messages or emails from unfamiliar sources, as cybercriminals frequently target this group. They were urged to report any suspicious activity to the police immediately.
