The Railways has started laying girders at the Sector 19 railway overhead bridge (ROB) being built on the Chandigarh-Ambala railway line.

The foundation stone of the project was laid by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in February 2019 and it has missed several deadlines, evoking ire of residents.

Haryana Speaker and local MLA Gian Chand Gupta had recently said the majority of the project work was done and it was on the part of the Railways that was causing delay in its completion.

After the ROB missed the March 31 deadline, Gupta said the Railways did not come under their jurisdiction. “At review meetings, their officials promise to complete the project soon, but fail to keep the word every time,” Gupta had said.

To provide some relief to Sector 19 residents, the Sector 19 railway under bridge (RUB) was thrown open to the public on April 10 as part of inauguration of projects by CM Khattar during his Jan Vikas rally at Tau Devi Lal Stadium.
