Chandigarh, July 15

Panchkula reports 26 COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the district total to 181. 

This is the biggest single-day spike in the district. 

Out of the 26 cases, seven Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel tested positive for the deadly disease. 

Earlier, a 42-year-old woman from Sector 7 and a 55-year-old woman of Sector 26 had tested positive. 

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Jasjit Kaur, said both patients had been admitted to the isolation ward of the Civil Hospital in Sector 6. 

She said the Health Department had deputed teams to collect samples of the patients’ family members and their contacts for testing.
