Panchkula school students to get books on martyrs

Haryana Assembly Speaker Gian Chand Gupta unfurled the national flag at the district-level R-Day function organised at the Parade Ground in Sector 5 here on Friday. He announced Rs 5 lakh from his voluntary fund to provide books on the country’s martyrs to schoolchildren.

The event featured a parade followed by a cultural programme. The Speaker honoured Surendra Kumar Joshi, son of freedom fighter Surajdev Joshi, along with Rakesh Kumar Gandhi, son of Omprakash Gandhi. Fifty-one people who excelled in the fields of government work, education, social service and sports were also honoured.

DC Sushil Sarwan unfurled the Tricolour at his camp office in Sector 1 and Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal during the sub-divisional R-Day function at Kalka.
