Panchkula shuttler claims silver in Goa
Chandigarh, July 21
Panchkula’s Devika Sihag has claimed silver in the girls’ U-19 category of the Yonex-Sunrise All-India Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament played in Goa. She put up a tough fight against Haryana’s Unnati Hooda but lost the final 23-21, 14-21, 21-19.
In the girls’ U-19 doubles event, Devika claimed gold. Another Haryana player, Mayank Rana, also won the boys’ doubles U-19 gold.
Ajay Singhania, vice-president, Badminton Association of India, said the players of Haryana had once again shown their unmatched performance.
Devika is pursuing her studies from Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh.
