To make International Women’s Day a memorable one for women inmates, Burail Jail authorities have decided to prepare a special food menu for them. The jail authorities will also hold a talk on women’s rights to mark the occasion.

AIG (Prisons) Virat said women inmates will be served “poori”, mix vegetable, “matar paneer” and green salad. They will also be served “suji ka halwa” as a sweet dish.

He further said before treating the inmates with special meal a talk on women rights will be held to educate the inmates about their rights which will contribute towards women empowerment. “There will discussion on women rights and lecture on women who have empowered themselves in adverse circumstances,” he added. The jail officials said a cake would also be cut on the occasion to mark the Women’s Day.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
