Panel to probe pollution plaint by villagers: Haryana minister

Haryana Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Vipul Goel chaired a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee here today. Eleven public complaints were taken up, most of which were resolved on the spot.

Directions were issued to officials concerned for the prompt disposal of the remaining cases. Taking a serious note of a complaint from residents of Sukhdareshanpur village regarding air and water pollution allegedly caused by a factory, the minister ordered the formation of a four-member committee, including officials from the Pollution Control Board and tehsildar, to investigate the matter on-site. The panel will determine whether contaminated water is being released into nearby fields and submit its report soon. The minister assured of a strict action if the factory is found guilty.

Responding to other issues, Goel directed HSVP officials to investigate allegations of illegal construction and rent collection on government land at Majri village and to register a case if the charges are found true.

On a complaint by Jitender Rana of Rana Farm House, Kishangarh, regarding foul odour from a nearby poultry farm, the minister directed the Pollution Control Board to conduct an inspection and take necessary action.

On a land encroachment issue raised by residents of Bana village, Sector 25, Goel instructed the PWD, Municipal Corporation and Forest Department to carry out a joint demarcation under the supervision of revenue officers.

In another case of illegal occupation of private land at Mattawala village, the minister directed the Tehsildar to re-demarcate the area and ensure the complainant regains possession.

The meeting was attended by Panchkula MLA Chander Mohan, Kalka legislator Shakti Rani Sharma, Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal, Kalka MC Chairperson Krishan Lamba, Police Commissioner Sivas Karthik, Municipal Commissioner RK Singh and other senior officials and non-official committee members.
