Panjab University commitee to probe Senators’ scuffle
Chandigarh, February 14
Days after two fellows indulged in a fight, Panjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Renu Vig has formed a committee to look into the incident, and frame code of conduct.
On Saturday, two fellows Jatinder Grover and Varinder Singh Gill were up in arms against each other during the university’s senate meeting. It was perhaps for the time that two fellows exchanged blows and received injuries in front of the entire senate house that is the governing body of the university.
The committee to probe this incident will be led by Prof Sukhbir Kaur. “Yes, a committee has been formed which will also prepare a code of conduct. These framed regulations will be followed during the senate and syndicate meetings,” said vice chancellor Prof Renu Vig.
Grover, former DSW, and Gill exchanged blows soon after the meeting started. The VC was yet to read the welcome note, when a fellow raised objection for not allowing him speak during the December 29 meeting. Following which, Grover and Gill exchanged heated words, triggering the fight.
