Panjab University Senate Poll: Three elected members of ‘staff of technical and professional colleges’
Chandigarh, August 5
Panjab University faculty members, Gurmeet Singh, Neeru Malik and Suresh Kumar, have been elected on three seats of the Panjab University Senate for members of the staff of technical and professional colleges constituency.
Neeru got 216 votes, while Gurmeet claimed 150 votes. Kumar secured 138 votes.
For the three seats, a total of four candidates had contested. Of the registered 789 voters, 629 used their right to franchise. A total of 77 votes were found to be invalid.
Polling booths at Chandigarh (254 votes), Fazilka (40 votes), Ferozepur (28 votes), Hoshiarpur (62 votes), Ludhiana (127 votes), Moga (53 votes), Sri Muktsar Sahib (48 votes) and Nawanshahr (17 votes) had witnessed a total of 79.72 per cent polling.
Meanwhile, the results of the principal of the technical & professional colleges constituency will be submitted at the Punjab & Haryana High Court. The result has been submitted in a sealed envelope, as per the directions of the court. The results will be announced accordingly, said a spokesperson.
Another round of elections will now be held on August 10. —TNS
