As per the orders of the UT Administration, Panjab University will function with 50 per cent staff strength till April 30, officials informed here today.

The university office will function with 50 per cent of staff till April 30, said the PU spokesperson.

“All the heads/offices of the departments will prepare a roster in such a manner that the routine day-to-day work as well as work pertaining to examination, Senate elections and other time-bound assignments may not get delayed,” said the spokesperson.

“The offices of the level of office superintendent and above all will attend office daily on basis of scattered timings, as notified in an existing order,” the spokesperson added.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
