Parliamentary panel inspects health infrastructure in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, September 9

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare today visited the PGI and the Health and Wellness Centre, Dadu Majra, and inspected the healthcare infrastructure and patient care offered by the institute and health centres in the city.

The committee is chaired by Prof Ram Gopal Yadav.

In view of a possible third wave, members of the committee reviewed the plan of the local health administration to tackle the pandemic.

They also asked health officials about the ongoing vaccination drive, the number of hospitals in the UT and the staff strength. The other agenda included cancer-related funds for poor at the PGI and implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

At the Dadu majra health centre, UT Health Secretary Yashpal Garg and the Director, Health Services, welcomed the committee members. The panel subsequently took a round of the health centre to inspect the health services.

The PGI Director, Prof Jagat Ram, said, “Members of the committee were happy with the facilities being offered to patients at the institute.”
