Opener Parushi Prabhakar hit a well-compiled century before skipper Kashvee Gautam led from the front with the ball to help Chandigarh register a 170-run win over Meghalaya in their Women’s U-19 One Day Trophy match at the KSRM College Ground in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, today.

Opting to bat, Chandigarh got off to a great start as Parushi and Simran Johal raised a 108-run partnership for the opening wicket. The duo was separated when Simran was cleaned up by Mansi on 40.

Simran’s departure brought Mehul to the crease and the budding cricketer hit a fluent 69 before she was run out by Ankita S in the 45th over. Mehul was also involved in a 130-run partnership with Parushi.

Parushi was the last wicket to fall in the Chandigarh innings as the side finally managed to score 268 runs in 50 overs. Parushi was caught by Sanchisa off Ankita on 110. Her 149-ball knock was studded with 13 boundaries. Kashvee made an unbeaten 14-ball 17, while Shivali remained not out on 1.

Mansi and Ankita took a wicket each for Meghalaya.

Needing to score 5.38 runs per over for victory, Meghalaya had a disastrous beginning to their chase, losing Suriti, Ankita and Mansi early.

While Suriti was clean bowled by Kashvee on 1, Ankita faced 40 balls for her 7 before she was run out by Anita. Mansi was sent back to pavilion by Anita on 1.

Skipper Rubi Chetri and Sanchisa tried hard to revive the Meghalaya innings. However, with Rubi falling prey to Parushi on 11 in the 22nd over, Meghalaya lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually restricted to 98/9 in 50 overs.

Sanchisa was the top scorer for Meghalaya with 31 runs.

For Chandigarh, Kashvee claimed 3/21 in her 10 overs, while Anita took 1/12.

With 12 points from five matches, Chandigarh is currently placed fifth in the Plate Group. Pondicherry sits comfortably at the top with 24 points, followed by Bihar in second place with 20 points. Mizoram is third with 16 points from six matches.

Kashvee-led side will now face Manipur on March 6.
