The victim, who has been identified as Rakesh Gulati, picked up a ride from Phase-10 and dropped the passengers off in New Chandigarh around 8.3 0am. When he asked for Rs 388 charge, the passengers started making excuses. Gulati said when he asked for payment again, one of them attacked him with a weapon and fled towards the market area. The victim sustained injuries on his head and ear.

“In the hope of earning Rs 388, I got this in reward. We are earning our livehihood by staking our lives on daily basis. If this is happening in daylight, how can we feel safe,” Rakesh said.
