Pathology advancements in focus at Chandigarh conference
The Department of Pathology at Government Medical College and Hospital, hosted a conference of the North-West Chapter of the Indian Association of Pathologists and Microbiologists.
The zonal conference covered topics such as histopathology, cytopathology, and haematology. An official inauguration ceremony took place with Director-Principal Dr AK Attri in attendance.
The first thematic session on Renal Pathology has speakers such as Dr Ritambhra Nada, Dr Pavneet Selhi, and Dr Sarita Asotra deliver talks on glomerular diseases, membranous nephropathy, and interstitial nephritis.
The next session, focusing on Gastrointestinal Pathology, with Dr Radhika Srinivasan speaking on pancreatic cytology, Dr Prasenjit Das on small bowel enteropathies, and Dr Sankalp Sancheti on molecular biomarkers.
The Hematology session that followed provided an in-depth look into Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS). Dr Anshu Palta discussed the evolving classification systems, highlighting convergence between WHO and ICC, genetically defined subtypes, and new categories such as MDS/AML and MDS-h. Complementary perspectives on flow cytometry and molecular diagnostics were shared by Dr Sumeet Gujral and Dr Reena Das.
The Endometrial Pathology sessions featured talks from Dr Rashmi K. Raina on challenges in endometrial biopsy interpretation and Dr Nisha Marwah on the latest classification and molecular profiling of endometrial carcinoma.
