On a call given by the coordinating committee of the Revenue Patwar Union, Punjab, and the Revenue Kanungo Association, a protest was organised in front of the DC’s office in Mohali on Friday. Patwaris, kanungo, nambardar, chowkidars, kisan union leaders, retired Patwaris and were part of the protest.

The protesters demanded that the 18-month training period of Patwaris recruited in 2015 be included in their probation and the probation period be reduced to two years. They said 3,000 patwaris should be recruited, shortcomings of the Pay Commission should be rectified, along with allotting technical grades for patwaris and computers for old patwaris. Old pension scheme should be implemented for patwaris recruited before 2004. — TNS
