Punjab Kings fans looking forward to watching the team’s IPL face-off with Rajasthan Royals at Mullanpur on April 5 will have to pay for parking — Rs 200 for a four-wheeler and Rs 100 for a two-wheeler.

The Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) International Cricket Stadium will host its first match of the IPL season on the evening of April 5. “The general public can park their vehicles at P4, P5 and P6 after paying Rs 200 for a four-wheeler and Rs 100 for a two-wheeler. Visitors can book a parking spot at https://showmyparking.onelink.me/789G/ndmafark,” said the Punjab Kings management.

Sources claimed that the paid parking would continue for the future matches as well. “The arrangement will continue for the rest of the fixtures as well. The organisers have reportedly taken the nearby fields on lease to manage the vehicular rush, the same as last year. Lights will be installed and boards with entry route info put up at various junctions,” said a source.

The source added, “The visitors have to walk their way to the stadium after parking their vehicles at the designated spots.”

Last year, when the stadium hosted IPL matches for the first time, the spectators had a tough time parking their vehicles and reaching the match venue. The problem persisted in all five matches. The stadium is hosting four matches this season — Rajasthan Royals (April 5), Chennai Super Kings (April 8), Kolkata Knight Riders (April 15) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (April 20). The two matches against Chennai and Bengaluru are expected to draw a lot of cricket fans as MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli will be seen in action.

After winning two consecutive matches, Punjab Kings are set for their first home game to be played in Mullanpur. Last season, two main roads connecting Chandigarh and New Chandigarh remained choked with traffic during matches. After chaos in the opening match, the Chandigarh Police diverted traffic via the New Chandigarh flyover to the Mullanpur stadium and allowed only VVIPs, official buses and spectators holding tickets of some particular gates on the newly constructed bypass. However, after the match, all roads around the stadium witnessed huge traffic jams.

Bags, cameras not allowed in stadium

Visitors carrying tickets of the differently abled category will enter the stadium from Outer Gate 1 and Inner Gate W1 for the West Terrace A. The other visitors can enter the stadium as per the details mentioned on their respective tickets. The list of items prohibited in the stadium include food and beverage brought from outside, bags and laptops, tobacco products and lighters, dangerous objects or weapons, inflammable items, professional cameras, coins, selfie sticks, drones and helmets.
