Chandigarh, November 9
With the completion of 100 years, since its inception in 1921, Punjab Engineering College (PEC) celebrated its 100th Foundation Day today.
The chief guests were Dharam Pal, Adviser to the UT Administrator; Rajendra Gupta, Chairman of Board of Governors; and SS Gill, Technical Education Secretary.
The event was attended by the faculty, staff and student representatives. The dignitaries spoke about PEC and its role in shaping technical education throughout history. Dharam Pal mentioned the strong influence of PEC alumni serving at highly acclaimed positions across the world and drew examples from Kalpana Chawla, Professor Satish Dhawan and Vandi Verma just to name a few.
The Director of PEC, Dr Baldev Setia, said this event was a kick-starter to a plethora of events lined up for the year, beginning with the centenary year celebrations on November 16 in which the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, would also take part.
