PEC secures Rs 7.5 cr science research grant
Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh, has received the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) grant of Rs 7.5 crore from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The announcement was made during the National Science Day celebrations organised at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
A team led by Vasundhara Singh, comprising about 15 faculty members, had submitted the research proposal, which secured the funding. Rajesh K Bhatia, director (ad-interim), along with Umesh Sharma, dean SRIC, Vasundhara Singh, Arun Kumar Singh, Ravinder Singh Walia and Sandeep Kumar, received the facilitation from the Minister of Science and Technology at the event.
The grant is expected to strengthen the institution’s research ecosystem, supporting faculty and students in advancing scientific innovation.
Bhatia highlighted the importance of encouraging young faculty members to take up impactful research initiatives and reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to academic excellence and technological progress.
