PECFEST: Sector 32 college wins fashion show

Chandigarh, April 17

GGDSD College, Sector 32, won the fashion show, while host Punjab Engineering College (PEC) stood second in the event in the ongoing PECFest. Teams from various colleges from across the tricity took part in the fashion show.

Meanwhile, PEC students won the dancing competition, followed by NIT, Kurukshetra, claiming the second position. Earlier, the day witnessed lighting of the lamp and rendering of Saraswati vandana, followed by the address of PEC Director Dr Baldev Setia.

Dr Baldev laid emphasis on the importance of cultural events in technical institutes. A cultural performance began with Ganesh Vandana, followed by a dance performance.

Jaspal Bhatti, an alumnus of PEC and famous satirist, was also remembered. The event concluded with a DJ night.

To kick off the day, a bhangra war was organised by the Punjabi Editorial Board of PEC. A debating contest, Netagiri, was held where participants’ quick wit, improvisation and passionate dialogue left the audience spellbound. A street play was also organised by Dramatics Club which drew a lot of attention from the audience.

There was something in store for robotics fans and tech geeks as well. Events like “Roborace” and “Robosoccer” were conducted by IEEE and Robotics Club. Shashank and Ujjwal were the winners for Roborace and Rakesh Kumar took the first prize for Robosoccer.

A startling art exhibition, “Kriti”, was also set up by Art and Photography Club of PEC, which displayed various paintings and sketches created by students. Various fun events were organised to keep the audience busy.

Apart from wide array of events and competitions, several personalities such as Arun Singh, Vanika Sangtani, Jahan Geet and Vaishnavi Boora held sessions in the auditorium to interact with students. An interactive session with Litesh Gumber, founder of Cryptic Entertainments, and a PEC alumnus, also took place in the Senate hall. Gumber talked about his undergraduate days and shared his experience on how he developed a business and got financially independent.
