Peddler held with banned pills in Pinjore

Under Operation Hotspot Domination, the police Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a supplier involved in the distribution of narcotic tablets.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Crime, Arvind Kamboj, informed that on December 5, the cell received a tip-off that a youth supplying intoxicant tablets in the Pinjore area would arrive near the Sukhomajri bypass adjoining the Pinjore-Baddi Highway to hand over a consignment to an associate.

Acting on the intelligence, a team led by in-charge Praveen Kumar mounted surveillance at the location and conducted a strategic raid, successfully apprehending the suspect.

During questioning, he was identified as Karan Kumar, 24, a resident of Basola village. A search led to the recovery of 1,320 Lomotil tablets — a commercial quantity under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The accused failed to produce any valid licence for possessing such medication. Consequently, a case was registered against him at the Pinjore Police Station.

Deputy Commissioner of Polie (DCP, Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan said the accused was produced in court today and has been remanded to police custody for two days.

During the remand, the police aim to determine the source of the narcotic tablets, identify the recipients of the supply and uncover others connected to his network.
