Peddler’s illegal construction demolished in Kurali
The police, in coordination with the Rural Development and Panchayat Department, demolished an illegal structure owned by a drug peddler on panchayat land in Chatauli Kalan village. The area falls under the jurisdiction of the Sadar Kurali police station.
Naib Tehsildar Rajveer Singh Marwah and Block Panchayat Officer Mandeep Singh were also present.
Mullanpur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohit Aggarwal and Station House Officer (SHO) Gauravbans Singh who conducted the operation said, “The demolished structure had been illegally constructed on the village phirni (panchayat land) by a known drug smuggler, Dilpreet Singh, who is currently facing trial and is in custody, is involved in six criminal cases, including four under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, registered in Ropar and Mohali district.”
Dilpreet Singh was booked under the NDPS Act at Sadar Kurali police station on May 29, 2022, with a recovery of 445 gm of heroin.
Sarpanch Gurpreet Singh expressed gratitude to the government for their sustained efforts in the war against drugs.
Notably, the Mullanpur Police Sub-Division has in recent months arrested 70 individuals in connection with 40 FIRs, with several of the accused referred to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres for treatment.
Additionally, the police have initiated proceedings under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, resulting in two cases of vehicle attachment/freezing and one case involving property—all identified as proceeds of drug trafficking.
