Mohali, November 18
A 29-year-old man was killed when an unidentified car hit him near a petrol pump at Mundi Kharar here on Wednesday.
The victim has been identified as Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Tripadi village under the Kharar police station.
In his statement to the police, Kulwant Singh, the victim’s cousin, said around 9 pm on Wednesday, they had gone to pay obeisance at a gurdwara in Daun village. He said they were walking their way back home when a rashly-driven car bearing a registration number of Haryana hit the victim. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Civil Hospital in Phase 6 where he was declared brought dead.
The car driver fled the spot.
Investigating officer Sikander Singh said a case against the unidentified driver of the car was registered under Sections 304A and 279 of the IPC. After postmortem, the body was handed over to the victim’s family members.
