People urged to help police weed out drug menace

DIG Ropar Range HS Bhullar today launched Sampark-2 campaign in the district to facilitate more coordination between public and the police for eradicating the drug menace and nabbing criminals.

Addressing a public meeting organised at Khamano, the DIG said the greatest threat that Punjab today faced was from drug abuse.

SSP Ravjot Grewal called upon people to alert the police if they get any information about drug suppliers and criminals, adding that the identity of the informers would be kept secret.

Meanwhile, senior citizens from Sirhind, Bassi Pathana and Mandi Gobindgarh organised a function to honour Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind, SSP Ravjot Grewal and SP(D) Rakesh Yadav for smooth conduct of annual Shaheedi Sabha here.

Record 40 lakh devotees had visited the Shaheedi Sabha held to commemorate the martyrdom of Sahibzadas Zorawar Singh and Fateh Singh and their grandmother Mata Gujri.
