Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Yash Garg today said permission from the Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) was mandatory to run advertisements in cinema halls, cable and newspapers. “All cable operators have to ensure compliance with the Cable TV Network Regulation Act, including the rules prescribed by the EC. Strict action will be taken against those who violate orders,” he said.
Only certified advertisements will be broadcast he said, adding: “The certificate issued by the committee will have the seal and signature of the competent officer concerned. The operator has to take care that only CDs bearing the seal should be played as advertisement,” he said.
