There PGI has been allocated Rs 2,400 crore for 2025-26, a 7.10% increase over the previous financial year, in the Union Budget. The government has announced revised budget estimates for 2024-25, allocating Rs 2,240 crore to the institute.

In addition, the Capital Expenditure (Capex) allocation has seen a significant enhancement, rising by 25%, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.

Expressing his satisfaction over the revised budget estimates, PGI Director Prof Vivek Lal said, “We are extremely pleased with the increased allocation for PGIMER, as it underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare services.”

This additional funding will enable us to further develop our infrastructure, invest in advanced medical technologies and ultimately provide better care to patients, the Director added.
