PGI killer injection case: Chandigarh Police add murder charge in chargesheet

The police have filed a chargesheet against Jaspreet Kaur, Jasmeet Singh, Buta Singh and Mandeep Singh under Sections 302 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code in a case in which a woman allegedly died after being administered with a toxic injection in the PGI last year.

The complainant, Jatinder Kaur, had alleged that on November 4, 2023, her sister-in-law, Harmeet Kaur, gave birth to a boy in a private clinic of Banur, Rajpura. After the delivery, she complained of kidney pain and was referred to the PGI, Chandigarh.

On November 13, she was shifted to the gynecology ward. Two days later, on November 15, at 11.05 pm a woman posing as nurse allegedly administered an injection to the deceased.

When asked about the injection, the woman got nervous and ran away. Later, Harmeet’s health worsened and she died.

The police alleged that Jaspreet Kaur was paid money by the victim’s brother, Jasmeet Singh, for giving the injection. The police claimed that Jasmeet had also paid money to Buta Singh and Mandeep Singh for arranging an injection, which was claimed to be a mixture of sanitiser, sleeping pills and an insect killer spray.

The police claimed that Mandeep Singh and Buta Singh did recce of victim in the PGI for two days and informed Jaspreet Kaur about her location in the gynecology ward.
