In a notice issued on Friday, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) has issued a show-cause notice to the president of the Association of Resident Doctors and asked him to explain within two days why action should not be taken against the office-bearers of the association "for inciting fellow doctors to go on strike in violation of the orders of the Supreme Court."

The apex court and various high courts had opined that medical treatment was the right of every citizen and doctors had been advised to not go on strike, the letter read.
