Prof Pinaki Dutta, a senior faculty member at PGIMER, Chandigarh, has been honoured with the prestigious Samanta Chandra Sekhar Award-2023 by the Odisha Bigyan Academy. The award, conferred by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Kumar Majhi in Bhubaneswar on March 28, recognises the contribution of scientists of Odisha working in other states.
An alumnus of MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, Prof Dutta completed his MD and DM in Endocrinology at PGIMER, where he began his academic career in 2004. His work on the cost-effective use of Imatinib for acromegaly has been widely acknowledged.
Dutta has published over 250 research papers, guided 50+ postgraduate students, and received multiple national and international awards. He has served as a visiting professor in the US, UK, and Europe and holds a leadership role in the International Pituitary Society, the first Indian to hold such a role.
