The institute recently awarded the construction contract for the boundary wall of the new campus at Sarangpur, Chandigarh. The construction, estimated at Rs 1,001.74 lakh, is projected to be completed within nine months.

The envisioned 500-bed hospital on Sarangpur campus is attached with MBBS College.

This proposal integrates a cutting-edge hospital with a comprehensive college campus, boasting state-of-the-art facilities to foster quality education, advanced research and exemplary patient care.

This proposal would also help the institute in addressing to some extent increasing demand of hospital beds, requirement of more modular operation theatres, and state of the art ICU facility for better patient care.

In response to the escalating demand for hospital beds, PGIMER’s expansion project emphasises the addition of modular operating theaters and advanced ICU facilities.

With the current daily footfall ranging from 30,000 to 40,000, the PGIMER faces continuous strain on its resources, both human and infrastructural.

One of the primary objectives of setting up Advanced Trauma Centre at Sarangpur is to alleviate the heavy influx of patients at PGIMER that currently witnesses a staggering daily footfall of 1,000 patients in its emergency ward.
