The PGI Medical Technologists’ Association, along with various categories of the non-technical staff, took out a rally to protest the non-implementation of the Supreme Court judgment even after one year.
Association general secretary of the association, Ashwani Kumar Munjal, said the Court had passed the judgment regarding the grant of backlog promotion scheme to non-faculty staff on completion of 8 years of service on continuous basis, cadre review of technical staff with effect from March 1, 1992, grant of Grade Pay Rs 4,600 to junior technicians (Lab/X-ray/RT) with effect from January 1, 2006, and payment of arrears of hospital patient care allowance to Group B employees.
He said information received under the RTI Act had revealed that senior officials of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare were responsible for changing the draft orders sent by the Director, PGI, by deleting important part of judgment/directions of the court from draft orders, thus, denying the implementation of backlog promotion scheme on continuous basis for the non-faculty staff.
He said even after one year, the judgment had not been implemented.
Therefore, the medical technologists and various other categories of the non-faculty staff of the institute lodged their protest by burning an effigy of health officials.
