In recognition of its outstanding commitment to community and humanitarian services, the Oral Health Sciences Centre at PGIMER has been honoured with the prestigious International College of Dentists DN Kapoor Award.
Dr Arpit Gupta, associate prof of OHSC, received the award from Union health secretary Apurva Chandra at a convocation held at the IP University, New Delhi.
Dr Ashima Goyal, Head of the Oral Health Sciences Centre, said the award from the International College of Dentists was a testament to the Centre’s unwavering commitment to elevating the standard of oral care for the elderly populace and its multifaceted approach.
The programme, initiated in January 2023, has demonstrated a steadfast dedication to improving the oral health and overall well-being of the elderly community. The scope of the initiative extended to various old-age homes, daycare facilities and even remote Gurah village. It directly brings oral healthcare services to doorsteps of the residents of old-age homes, addressing the accessibility challenges.
