Phase 1 of hockey league concludes in Mohali

The Roundglass Hockey Academy (RGHA) and the Sports Authority of India National Centre of Excellence, Sonepat, ended their Phase I of the Punjab Hockey League at top two spots. The first phase of the league concluded at Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium today.

The Naval Tata Academy, Jamshedpur, remained third with 11 points and the PIS Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, fourth with 10 points followed by Namdhari Hockey Academy (10 points), the SDAT Hockey Academy (7 points), the SGPC Hockey Academy (5 points) and Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy, New Delhi (3 points).

On the last day of the league in Mohali, the RGHA logged a convincing 5-1 victory over Ghumanhera Risers Hockey Academy to remain unbeaten in the meet. The SAI-Sonepat blanked the SGPC Hockey Academy 6-0. The SDAT Hockey Academy bagged a bonus point after prevailing in the shootout against the Naval Tata Hockey Academy. In the final match of the day, the PIS Surjit Hockey Academy and the Namdhari Hockey Academy played out a 1-1 draw. Namdhari won a bonus point after winning the shootout 3-0.

The Phase II of the league will start in Jalandhar on September 15.
