Chandigarh, March 2

The difficulty level for the Class XII physics exam conducted today was above average as questions were more conceptual than theoretical.

Students said they faced difficulty in attempting the one-mark questions.

Arman Chetal, a Class XII student, said: “The paper was relatively tougher than the previous year. One-mark questions accounted for 20 marks, including fill in the blanks and multiple-choice questions (MCQs). These were tricky. The five-mark questions were easier.”

Another student Shaurya said: “Five to six MCQs were tricky and the paper was slightly lengthy as well.”

Bharat Bhushan, PGT Physics, St John’s High School, said: “This was the first time that more MCQs were part of the paper. These were high order thinking questions of JEE Main level. Students are more likely to lose marks in these questions. Section B had previous year’s questions and if a student had practised questions from the past years, they will be able to score well.”

Bhushan added: “It was a balanced paper in terms of theory and numerical questions. The paper was slightly difficult than the sample paper. The questions were within the syllabus but some were not of the NCERT level.”
