Physiotherapists at the PGIMER today wore black ribbons on their sleeves to register their protest against the hospital administration for ‘continued indifference to their long-pending demands’.

In a letter to the PGIMER Director yesterday, the PGIMER Physiotherapists Association had stated that physiotherapists would wear black badges during duty hours and halt the teaching of BPT (Bachelor of Physiotherapy) students.

Physiotherapists expressed concerns over ‘deteriorating’ professional environment in the department. The association has urged the administration to take immediate steps to restore a healthy working atmosphere by sanctioning teaching posts for the physiotherapy cadre and restoring an independent physiotherapy department that existed prior to 2008.

The association claimed that the BPT course was being run without any officially sanctioned teaching posts since its inception in 1995.
