A regional fact check unit has been established by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in the UT.

An email id — pibfactcheckchandigarh@gmail.com — has also been created to receive queries or news stories from public that may need to be checked for facts.

The unit is to check any news related to the Centre, which is specific to the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh and may be incorrect or misleading.

Fact check units have been set up by the PIB across the country to check the circulation of factually incorrect or doctored news over different modes of media. The mandate of these units is to provide official or authentic version of any news by making available the factually correct information in public domain.
